Learner FAQ
What is a Skillit Learner?
A Learner is a person who is keen to go on an educational, entertaining experience and signs up to take a Skillit with a Maker.
Who can become a Learner and how do I get started?
Anyone can access the Skillit site to review information and Skillits available. Anyone 18 years of age or over can book a Skillit. You will be required to create a Skillit account and provide us with some basic information in order to complete a booking.
What should I do if someone asks me to pay outside of the Skillit website?
If you paid for your reservation outside of Skillit (eg. a wire or bank transfer), you may have paid for a fraudulent reservation. To get help, contact your bank and let us know immediately via email at info@myskillit.com.
The entire cost of the Skillit will be paid at the time of booking through the MySkillit website.
If anyone asks you to pay off site or through another company, say no and report it to us. You will not receive a paper or pdf invoice from a Maker asking you for a payment. If you hear or read any of these terms, report them: Western Union, MoneyGram, cashier’s cheque, money order, Liberty Reserve...etc.
What are the types of scams I might encounter?
Never share your email address before a booking is accepted or transfer funds outside the mySkillit system, and always carefully examine emails claiming to be from mySkillit for correct urls.
Examples of common scams include:
- Advance Fee Scam: Someone offers to pay you or give you something if you pay through a service outside of mySkillit.
- Phishing Scam: Someone sends an email or link that looks like it's from mySkillit or another trusted site. These messages are designed to trick you into providing confidential information such as passwords or other email addresses. Phishing messages may contain malware, which is malicious software that gains access to your computer to gather your personal information, including passwords.
- Deal Scam: Someone offers you a great deal on a Skillit if you pay or send a deposit using a wire transfer.
- Overpayment Scam: Someone offers to pay a Maker more than the price of the reservation, and then asks the Maker to give them cash to cover the difference.
- Third-party Booking Scam: Someone offers to reserve and pay for a mySkillit listing through their third-party website or service, often claiming to have a mySkillit coupon or discount. These reservations are typically paid for using stolen credit cards.
Note: Any reservations that are made outside of mySkillit violate our Terms and Conditions. If we identify that a reservation was made through a third-party service, we may cancel the reservation and deactivate the accounts of the person who made the booking and the Maker/Learner.
How do I book and pay for a Skillit?

Make sure that you are able and willing to purchase any equipment required for the Skillit, and that you are in compliance with any requirements. These requirements will be listed by the Maker in the Guest Requirements and Fine Print. You will be required to enter a total number of children and adults on the booking page, and once confirmed, required to pay for the cost of a Skillit when you book it.

How do I know that Skillits will be safe?
Your safety is our first priority. We work hard to screen our Makers and Skillits by having stringent criteria and rules, and by conducting due diligence and background checks. All Makers must accept and comply with our Terms and Conditions. We place particular emphasis on ensuring that Makers show respect for Learners and create a safe environment. In addition, we ask our Learners to leave reviews on our Makers and their Skillit experience. If Skillits or Makers do not meet the quality standards, they may be removed from mySkillit.
How are Skillit prices set?
A Skillit’s price is determined by mySkillit and the Maker. Applicable taxes will also be applied and a Stripe payment processing fee of 4%. If you were not happy with the value of the Skillit in relation to the price, please communicate that in your review of the Maker and Skillit.
What happens if a Skillit I have booked is canceled?
If the Skillit is canceled by the Maker, Skillit will provide you with a full refund for the cost of the Skillit. However, Skillit will not reimburse any related expenses, such as transportation and lodging.
The Maker may reschedule the Skillit, changing the time, date and/or location due to circumstances such as poor weather, emergencies, safety issues, or challenges with the venue. If this is the case, mySkillit will notify you of the change. If you let us know within 72 hours of that advice that the change is not acceptable to you, we will issue a refund. If we do not hear from you in that timeframe, you will not be entitled to a refund of the cost of the Skillit. Please see our Terms and Conditions for further information.
What happens if I (family) can no longer attend a Skillit I have signed up for?
Learners are required to notify the Company in writing of a cancellation request of any pre-booked Skillit, at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled date of the Skillit. If a Learner cancels prior to 48 hours in advance, all booking fees are non-refundable and Learner will be afforded the option of either a refund of the total purchase price of the Skillit, less the booking fee, or a credit for a future Skillit. If a Learner fails to cancel a booked Skillit prior to 48 hours in advance, they will not be eligible for any refund or credit and the Maker will be fully compensated for the Skillit. Please see our Terms and Conditions for further clarification.
Will I get a refund if I am not happy with the Skillit session?
No, all sales are final and non-refundable. We invite you to provide honest and constructive feedback on the Maker and Skillit during the review process.
What do I do if I have a complaint about the Maker or Skillit?
Your safety and well-being is our top priority. If, for any reason, you and/or your family feel unsafe or uncomfortable during a Skillit, we advise you to politely remove yourself from the situation and contact our team as soon as possible. How do I communicate with the Maker of a Skillit I’ve signed up for?

It is important that you avoid using other means of communication outside of our website, as it may affect your rights regarding the Skillit and your ability to continue with us as a Learner. For further information on this, please see our Terms and Conditions.
Are there any special rates for teams or groups?
For some Skillit’s, there might be a group charge from time to time. The Skillit will clearly list this in the price along with the details. For any group inquiries, or questions related to this, please contact us at info@myskillit.com and we will be happy to discuss team opportunities.
Can I sign up for a Skillit if I have a disability? Will accommodations be made?
mySkillit and the Maker will determine whether a Learner with a disability can feasibly and safely participate in the Skillit and whether reasonable accommodations can be made. Given the wide variety in types of Skillits, it is not possible to have a hard rule in place in this regard.
